Carrera bicycles were born in 1988 as an extension of the great Italian professional road racing team Carrera. The sponsor of the professional squad was the Carrera blue jean company and thus the team clothing looked like denim. Many great champions raced for Carrera including the trifecta; Tour de France, Giro d-Italia, and World Championship won by Stephen Roche in 1987. The other great champions include Claudio Chiappucci, Marco Pantani, Michelle Bartoli, Ivan Basso and Paolo Bettini. Over 500 victories were achieved by the Carrera team.
The Carrera workshop called Podium began in 1988 under the technical direction of Luciano Bracchi. Bracchi became well-known for his designs and product developments. The Carrera-Podium shop was the first workshop to join aluminum to rear stays to carbon. They were the first shop to work with ceramical aluminum and were the first Italian firm to build carbon frames on
size. With this experience a Carrera bicycle is a technical achievement backed with many years of R & D. The synergy with the racing teams allowed Bracchi to test new designs under the rigors of professional racing and he had the advantage of having the team headquarters located in the same building as the bicycle factory.
Today, Carrera has embraced the highly advanced designs of carbon. Unlike most bike companies that simply mimic the designs of others, Carrera has unique and well-thought technology to optimize the advantages of carbon. The tube shapes provide the bicycle with the ultimate combination of lightness, rigidity, ease of handling, comfort and durability. And with today’s efficient manufacturing technique, a high performance Carrera bicycle is more affordable than ever. Essentially, Carrera has a bicycle for every road cyclist from the novice to the Gran Fondo rider to professional level. We hope you find a Carrera model to your liking. The colors and graphics are dynamic and the paint and finish work are the pinnacle of the bike industry.
SL 730
The name simply means the frame weight of 730grams and this is the lightest Carrera model. With the use of the best performing composite materials, Carrera can build an ultralight frame that still performs flawlessly and meets their stringent demands of comfort, performance and reliability. Carrera has gone outside the bicycle industry to acquire raw materials from the aerospace industry and with the special graphite/epoxy resin fibers and the round to square tube shapes they created the best ultralight bicycle frame on the market. No other sub 800gram frame offers the precision, the rigidity and the perfect control as the SL 730. The production process is called V.B.M. or Vacuum Bladder Molding and in the fabrication they use expandable polystyrene and polyurethane shells in order to reduce wall thickness without sacrifice in strength. This technology “stretches” the fibers inside the tubes making them more compact and lighter in weight. Simply, Carrera engineers add 5% to 10% added strength to this frame and with a huge reduction in weight. The rear triangle has asymmetrical chain stays for fast acceleration and flat seatstays for supreme comfort. The entire package is a compact responsive and comfortable frame with extreme lightness. We have a lot of experience with the SL 730 having sold them since introduction in 2013 and our customers rave about this bicycle. It is very easy to achieve a complete bike weight of 13lbs using the SL 730 frame and with top shelf lightweight group, wheels and parts. Call us today to discuss your SL 730 bike build.

PHIBRA EVO
Now in its 3rd generation the Phibra Evo is the iconic Carrera bicycle with the most stunning and innovative carbon design. Maybe no better combination of performance and comfort is available in a carbon bike. Carrera designed “Double Arc” to get maximum stiffness and lateral rigidity at the bottom bracket while still maintaining a smooth and comfortable compliant ride over rough roads. The Phibra is the ultimate Gran Fondo bike. In the design there are 2 monocoque carbon arches that are joined to the head tube and seat tube. The rear triangle is a single piece and is joined to carbon drop outs. This original design achieves a very light bike with precise steering and responsive characterisitics. The flatness of the top arch and seatstays allow the perfect amount of flex for a super comfortable ride. The Phibra Evo is the top selling model in the Carrera range.
